    Record of Service:

     

    Robert Johnson was born about 1885 in Reighton, Yorkshire, England. He was working as a Horse Driver in Perth, Western Australia when he enlisted in the A.I.F on the 28th of February 1916. He was allocated service number 4763 and embarked from Fremantle on the 17th of April 1916 with the 12th Reinforcements, 28th Battalion.

     

    On the 26th of September 1916 Robert was taken on strength with the 28th battalion and was Wounded in Action (GSW Shoulder) on the 3-6th of November 1916. Recovering from his wounds he returned to his battalion on the 26th of March 1917. On the 29th of July 1917 he was admitted to hospital suffering from Trench Fever.

     

    Robert returned to his unit on the 15th of January 1918 and was sadly Killed in Action at Morlancourt on the 14th of June 1918. An eyewitness states he was with “B” Company and killed instantly by a minenwerfer.

     

    He now rests in the Dive Coipse British Cemetery, France.
