Leonard Hemmings was born about 1895 in Newbold-on-Stour, Warwickshire, England. He was working as a Labourer when he enlisted in the British Army on the 17th of November 1915. He was allocated service number 16422 and was mobilised on the 1st of February 1916.
Leonard joined the 11th Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment and joined the B.E.F on the 19th of May 1916. He was Killed in Action on the 24th of September 1917 during the Battle of Menin Road. At the time his battalion was in the lines at Bulgar Wood Trenches, near Fricourt.
Leonard is remembered on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belguim.
